Who we are
Evolve Accounting, LLC (“Evolve Accounting,” “I,” “me”) runs youraccountingprofessional.com. I’m Melanie Terrien, CPA, and I serve clients from Virginia and virtually.
This policy explains what information this website collects, why, and the choices you have. It covers the website only. Client engagements are also governed by your engagement letter.
Information I collect
I collect only what you choose to share, plus basic technical data every website receives.
- Contact form: your name, email, business name, revenue range, the services you’re considering, and your message.
- Checklist and email signups: your first name and email address.
- Discovery call bookings: your name, email, the time you choose, and anything you add to the booking form.
- Free community: if you join My Empowered Business on Skool, Skool collects the information you give it.
- Technical data: your browser type, device, IP address, pages visited, and referring site, collected automatically through server logs and cookies.
- Analytics: I use Google Analytics to see how visitors use the site. It sets cookies and reports general information such as pages viewed, device type, and approximate location. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- To answer your questions and prepare for discovery calls.
- To send what you asked for, such as the Q4 checklist and its follow-up emails.
- To send occasional emails about bookkeeping, tax deadlines, and my services, if you signed up.
- To keep the website secure and understand which pages are useful.

I do not sell your personal information.

Emails and unsubscribing
Every email I send includes an unsubscribe link. Click it to stop marketing emails at any time, or email me and I’ll remove you. Unsubscribing doesn’t affect emails about active client work.
Sharing, security, and confidentiality
I share information only with the services listed above, or when the law requires it, such as a valid subpoena.
Client information is different. Financial and tax records you share as a client are handled under professional confidentiality standards for CPAs, not through this website. Please don’t send tax documents or account numbers through the contact form. I’ll give you a secure way to share them through my secure client portal, ClientHub.
I use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no website or email system is completely secure. I keep website inquiries and email list information only as long as they’re useful, and you can ask me to delete yours at any time.
Your choices
- Ask what information I have about you, or ask me to correct or delete it.
- Unsubscribe from emails at any time.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
Children
This website is for business owners and isn’t directed to children under 13. I don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If I update this policy, I’ll post the new version here with a new date. Last updated: October 5, 2026.
